That alerts their friends to their current location so they can drop by and say hello.” I’ve talked about Brightkite and Loopt, similar services which have more members but don’t have the addictive nature of Foursquare.

I finished reading The Game last night. turns out Courtney Love is on Suicide Girls. So of course I have to go check it out, haven’t been there in years. When I signed up, I was asked if I wanted to join the newbies lounge. Why don’t more dating site offer this kind of a forum for new members? I got a few choice quotes in this Austin Business Journal article about Gelato (warning: paywall)

Mate1 Launches datedaily Blog – New Dating Site and Facebook Application Coming Soon

Over the years I’ve advised a number of clients to launch blogs which are tightly integrated with their dating sites. Traffic driving, SEO and branding are just some of the benefits. For some reason this concept has not taken hold at many dating sites. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the new Mate1 blog, datedaily , has a section called Hottie of the Week , which displays a member profile photo and a link to the profile on Mate1. Smart move, exactly what I envisioned. Liz Wasserman and her team are showing that they understand how to reach potential members, promote existing ones and create additional marketing channels to drive traffic to Mate1.
